Gavin tops the charts!

I haven't weighed in on the huge controversy surrounding the threat of blog libel by John Gray on Irish blogger Gavin Sheridan but as a blogger I am of course watching with keen interest. I mainly find it hilarious though that Mr. Gray has accomplished the exact opposite of the desired effect by invoking the strong arm of the law.

By initially refusing to remove the comments which caused offense, and instead soliciting commentary from the blogosphere, Gavin has generated huge publicity for his blog and that notorious entry in particular. In fact the story is currently racing up the Daypop Top 40 and other blog charts. It's too soon yet but I'd be suprised if, on a search for "John Gray", Google doesn't return Gavins post in the top 5 entries within a few weeks. Then Mr. Gray will really have egg on his face.
