An economy of open source ideas

Some have asked why Liam Burke and myself would blog so openly about Podato well before we ever get the idea off the ground but a quote from Marcus Pincus (via Emergic) offers the perfect explaination I think -

Seems like we've moved from open source software to open source ideas and I think it's awesome. Sure the cost is that we all start to feel like people can scarf up our best ideas before we can even completely get them straight but we can also iterate together way faster.

It may seem weird that Village Magazine would run a story on our new podcastin idea while it's still 'in the lab' but I think they too must understand that we live in "the idea push economy".
