It doesn't Share Your OPML

Dave Winer's relaunched Share Your OPML project is generating alot of buzz but, like John Tropea, I'm perplexed that it doesn't actually share your personal OPML files yet. Here's my list of shared feeds (from just one one of my FeedDemon folders) and there's no OPML button anywhere for anyone who'd like to import them. That feature will surely be added though.

One feature I really like is Subscriptions Like Mine. The first five on my list are -

  1. Bela Labovitch
  2. Alex Barnett
  3. Tom Morris
  4. John Tropea
  5. Amy Bellinger

Dave also points to the Prolific Subscribers (otherwise known as Edge Cases) view but where the hell is Robert Scoble?

UPDATE: I should have read the TechCrunch review first - "Dave Winer says that they’ll have per-feed sharing turned on within a few days". Excellent!

James,
Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post but you did turn on sharing of your OPML in Share Your OPML, didn't you?

If you do that, then you do share your OPML files.

Confused in Cork!

Sorry Tom, I didn't explain it very well.

Sharing is on by default so that's not the issue. What is the issue is that when you click through on a feed to see who's subscribed to it (eg. by clicking on the asterisk next to Technorati) you are presented with the list of people subscribed. Clicking on the subscriber's name then present you with a list of that person's feeds. You would expect to also see a button for the OPML file encapsulating those feeds so that they can be easily aggreated/grazed but its not yet available.

Happily though Uncle Dave says its on the way :)

Ah!

Gotcha now - I'd also like to get rss feeds of those so you could subscribe and automatically be fed updates!

Yes, I'm definitely looking foward to that. And of course it will be perfect Grazing fodder. In fact, Grazing will be the only feasible way to navigate such a huge hierarchy of feeds IMHO. But then again I'm biased ;-)

James: I've published a little script to let you filter out private feeds from your OPML:

Looks like you have good taste in subscribing to blogs :). Thats funny that ours are similar. Thats too bad you won't make OPMLCamp - I was looking forward to meeting you!

Yes, hardly surprising we have similar tastes in OPML blogs Bela, is it, although I think my "Subscriptions Like Mine" may have now changed substantially since I added another folder of feeds from my FeedDemon which has nothing to do with OMPML ;-)

Sorry I can't make it to OPML Camp, I'm going to be missing a great unconference. Looking forward to being virtually there though, through your blogs :)
