TechMeme was not seeded by Robert Scoble
Hopefully you already knew that, but I didn't. I swallowed a myth hook, line and sinker.
So let me shout it from the rooftop - TechMeme was not seeded with Robert Scoble's feed list. As I'm guilty of having propogated that inaccuracy its only right to amplify Gabe Rivera's correction -
"Techmeme isn't and never was seeded with Robert Scoble's subscriptions. It's true that nearly a year ago I did analyse his subscriptions to find additional seeds: the blogs that survived that process account for less than 4% of the current configuration."
So how could I have avoided making the mistake? I could have googled back through Scoble's blog for posts like this which tell the true story. I've seen the myth echoed in so many places (or perhaps just perceived that I had) I just took it as gospel. That's no excuse!
It's all very well saying that Gabe can easily correct the citizens of citizen media but when a myth takes on a life of it's own that could be like fighting a firestorm. He shouldn't have to waste his time. Sorry for wasting your time Gabe.
Reminder to self: Question, question, question everything you read.

Thanks again James. I think you've now assisted the dubunking effort quite a bit!
