One of the coolest things I've ever experienced online happened yesterday in the lead up to BlarneyCamp. In preparation for the virtual meetup in the Dublin sim I dropped into Nooribeom in Second Life to pickup a blogHUD system for live blogging the event. There I was at the kiosk trying to figure out what to do when.... zap.... out of nowhere appeared Koz Farina, alias Kosso, creator of blogHUD. I knew it was him without ever seeing his name because he's modified his avatar to have a striking resemblance to his real life self, whom I'd previously seen on a YouTube video. See for yourself -

Kosso explained what I needed to do to get the newest version of blogHUD up and going and lead me over to another kiosk to demonstrate. Now I've been on the internet for about a dozen years and in that time I've tried countless variations in online communications and interaction but never.... never.... have I been left with anything like the depth of impression as succeeded this virtual meeting.
We've defintely crossed a psychological threshold here. I was essentially left with the feeling that Kosso had met me in person to help me use his product. For all the Skyping, texting, emailing, IMing, faxing and phoning I've ever done I've never had the same feeling of personal service and attention as accorded by Koz Farina in Nooribeam.

Koz rocks, he's so nice to me. :D
I agree about the customer service, one of the early amazing moments I had with inworld customer service in Second Life is when I was at Curious Kitties, and shopowner Ameshin Yossarian was right on hand to help me! I mused that most shops are abandoned — so I think we're on the same thoughtline. BareRose does a *great* job of this too, with their many helpers.
