Flickr's new Machine Tags and GPS phones

Sam Sethi reports on the launch of Flickr machine tags which isn't quite the same thing as RDF according to Aaron Straup but perhaps a poor man's RDF. Which is certainly catching the attention of some in the Semantic Web community.

Aaron explains -

"Many of you may already be familiar with machine tags by another name (triple tags) or because you are already using them, informally, in your code (for example, "geo:long=123.456")."

This should be of particular interest to geobloggers like Bernie Goldbach who, through the prolific use of a Nokia N70 camera, compiles a virtual tour of Ireland.

Robin Blandford pointed me yesterday to his cousin Rafe's early review of the Nokia N95, the phone I've been patiently waiting for since losing my Nokia 6630. That phone is Nokia's first with built in GPS. I wonder what magic developers will be conjuring out of Flickr machine tags by the time I get one into my hands.
