My complaint about BarCamp Waterford...

... is that there were too many good talks clashing with each other throughout the day! In fact there wasn't a single one I'd have missed if I could have made three of myself. Not a bad complaint is it? ;-)

Congratulations to Keith Bohanna and Tom Corcoran for organizing a terrific BarCamp in the sunny south east in a beautiful waterside setting. Excellent location and building with plenty food, coffee and tea laid on. All very conducive to an educational day out learning lessons from the best minds in web-based media and business.

As a self professed entrepreneur I've got to say the highlight of the day was the Web 2.0 panel with Joe Drumgoogle, Conor O'Neill, Walter Higgings, Jan Blanchard and Helene Haughney. Keith did a great job in teasing out numerous valuable insights and the session could possibly have done with more time. I'd love to hear a follow up at the next BarCamp.

Ken McGuire has a great writeup of the other talks I attended except one - the podcasting session with Bernie Goldbach and Conn Ó Muíneacháin. Being a regular listener to Bernie's Inside View I found it fascinating to watch him record and produce a podcast live during the talk. He made it all look rather effortless, going walkabout for sound-bites and queuing everything up on his Sony dictaphone. Unfortunately I haven't been a regular listener to Conn's podcasts because, to my shame, I'm not able to speak or understand much of my native language but it was very educational to hear his numerous tips and tricks for high quality audio production.

August 22nd 2005 was the first time I wrote about BarCamping on this blog -

"Robert Scoble notes that barcamp [the original] has been hit by the tagmob, particularly on flickr. Why can't we have more geek get-togethers like this in Ireland? It looks like fun. Add what better way of networking?"

At that time I'd never have dreamed we'd have so much momentum behind Irish BarCamping only 16 months on. Let's keep it going :-)

Its not a bad complaint at all - just means there's a hell of a lot of good people in the industry and a hell of a lot of good topics to cover!

Perhaps have a good tech team working on the day so by the close of the last session you could physically take away at least audio recordings of all the sessions, thus avoiding the initial feeling of having "missed out"?

Appreciated James. Definitely extension of the panel time slot is one of the must-do's for the next BC. Which should be timetabled very soon judging by my inbox :-)

An hour's worth of takeaway audio that plays in a car CD system would be a nice touch.

I just did a review on the videos from "funding 4 startups" panel discussion
