Michele got his knickers in a twit and Damien tried strangling him with them. Now while I enjoy twitter immensely - it's good sociable fun - I don't feel the need to defend it but Damien has nailed something far more corrosive in Michele's rant than twitteritis and that's the 'usual tech snobbery' -
“Oh gawd, you use a PC”, “Oh gawd, you use Windows and not ubuntu”
My how that reminds me of my first encounter with the IT Aristocracy at the start of the 90s when I was going through University. I can still remember how the command line snots looked down their noses at us Windows wimps. "Real programmers don't use toys!!". Don't get me wrong, I was a Unix Sys Admin for a few years myself and can appreciate a good shell script as much as the upper-crusters but one size doesn't fit all and computing isn't just for the elite. I can't get into MySpace myself but I've never dedicated a post to bashing MySpace users. Different strokes for different blokes.
Michele points out that he's not the only one - people like Adam agree with him. Then again Adam is the only blogger I know who denies that he's a blogger. Will he be twittering in a few year's time but denying he's a twit? Ironic really that even the Father of Blogging, who doesn't use twitter himself [update: see Dave's correction in comments below], is "reluctant to dismiss [it] as a passing fad". But then again he's been battling the IT Aristocracy for years...
They should all be using FidoNet and VT100 terminals like real men. No distractions there. Just green, pure green.

Correction: I am using Twitter, for now at least.

Hehe, that's right Conor, I can just picture them like the guys in The Matrix who could decipher the green glyphs! ;-)
Oops, sorry about the inaccuracy Dave - I've edited the post to point it out. Thanks.
