I don't often promote comments to full posts but this wonderful anecdote from Jan Blanchard of touristr deserves the bump up --
"Something strange happened to me for the last one. I went to the Clarion Hotel, looked around for some bloggers, and I saw a guy working with a McBook. I went and introduced myself, asked him if was there for the open coffee. He said no, I'm an entrepreneur, what do you do?. As it happened, he was an English man visiting his wife's family in Limerick and enjoying the free wifi and the coffee in the Clarion. We talked for two hours, shared our entrepreneurial experiences and business concepts. And we could well do business together in the future! Thanks for organising these open coffee mornings, we never know who we're going to meet!"
Now how cool is that?

I would say this, Jan is extremely easy to talk with. Now for my rant on nice people in business.
My company has been working with Jan on Touristr.com for about a year. He's been nothing but a wonderful client to have around. Jan is great about listening to feedback, redeveloping concepts, designs, flows etc. I wish all clients were like Jan. I think his story shows you how a good personality, friendly smile and firm handshake can open doors for you. If only more people were like Jan, my life and job would be so much easier.

Happens quite often...
Who on earth though, introduces themselves as an entrepreneur?! Why not just say, hey I do x.

Wondering if you'll be in the Clarion on Thursday 29 March.

Well we (Mary Gilmartin and I) were thinking once a fortnight would be appropriate for starters Bernie so, seeing as our first OpenCoffee will be next Thursday 22nd that would have put the second one on April 5th. But if there's demand it would be great to do it weekly? Or is there something else going on 29th? ;-)
