The reason I blog about microbusiness is because of how appealling I find the notion of being able to use information technology to grow a successful niche business, regardless of location. That's why I was delighted to read in yesterday's Sunday Times about the progess being made by CharterNav GPS who are based in Crosshaven, Co. Cork.
I started getting interested in GPS last year after reading about the pending introduction of a European GPS system called Galileo. And while researching a few embryonic business ideas I had I was intrigued to come across CharterNav. Having lived in Cork City for a few years and driven out to beautiful Crosshaven on a number of occassions I was delighted to have an excuse to revisit it. It was great to see that the company has organically grown out of a dwelling house, to occupy a few sheds/pre-fabs in addition to the main building. No plush IFSC style offices, just a neatly organised workspace situated in an uplifting coastal setting. Microbusiness at it's best.
