Tablane - an Irish Flock?

It's great to see Enteprise Ireland people, such as Development Advisor Brian O'Malley, participating in the conversation on the blogosphere. On Keith Bohanna's Pure Play blog Brian poins to a number of exciting Web2.0 companies in the North West of Ireland, including a few which I knew about already (Nooked, My-Me, and Infacta) and one which I'd never heard of - Tablane - who appear to be developing a new type of social web browser.

It sounds intriguing and if they get a fraction of the publicity that Flock recently got they can expect to set Blogpulses racing! As I look, this Friday morning, at the website for Tablane it's still a single pre-release page but a public beta release is promised for later today. I haven't bothered downloading Flock yet but will definitely be trying out Tablane.

Ever get the feeling the universe is telling you something?
Just back from 2 weeks holidays in the canaries. After seeing the weather, cheaper living and taking into account the benefits of living 6 months abroad, my wife and I have pretty much decided we will buy out there. We had a look at a lovely one bed place, centrally located for just 65,000. Why wouldn't you.

I also enjoyed seeing someone from EI posting in on this topic and bringing some "web2.0" Irish businesses to my/our attention. I have linked out to a couple of them from Pureplay - having omitted Infacta who are not by any current stretch of the definition within that category :-)

Well we got our first Beta 1.0 release of Tablane up by 6pm on Friday, so just about hit our first deadline. Since then we have already released a Beta 1.1, given the initial feedback from a few hardy pioneers.

We had a late breaking bug in our forum software which meant that our forums were suspended over the weekend, but they should, we hope, we back on-line real soon now.

I am busy putting together some flash movies by way of help which should be up in the next day or two.

Initial download figures are modest -- so spread the word!

But we are pleased with how things are going so far. I'll come back and say more later.

Seriously though it really is great to have the participation of people in the state agencies in the online conversation. Can we expect to be commenting on your own blog some day?
