Take a look at this gizmo and then tell me that inventing is for engineers only. And when you've stopped smacking your forehead it might be an idea to take a fresh look at the world around you. Why are we incapable of spotting hundreds of ideas like this everyday?
Great invention! By thumb is always killing me when i'm reading too long.
On the issue of invention - I had a great idea last night, i've run it past my Physics teacher and he can't (desipte trying very hard) find any theortical flaw in it... next step is to build a prototype model! I'm not saying any more!

Aw c'mon, jus' give us a hint ;-)
Seriously though, that must be incredibly exciting. One idea I had recently was to create a special vacuum cleaner head that could create a strong vortex in midair just to such in all the dust that inevitably gets thrown up while 'hoovering'. This struck me during a particularly sunny day when streams of low sunlight exposed the incredible number of fibres still swimming around *after* I thought I'd finished. I'd love to be able to wave the 'hoover' wand around in the air at that stage and suck those right back in.
Maybe there's such a thing on the market? I've never seen one :(

Might lips are gonning to be shut tight until I build a test model - it's something that will probably not work... but if it does would truely have an enormous market!

Im going to invent something that scratches your scrotom for you, you can just attach it to your leg and just press a button so you can scratch in peace and no one is any wiser! What do you think?
