Conversation to replace Publication?

I remind readers occasionally that this blog started on the premise that what I call “pure conversation” would eventually supplant the current “publish” model of the web.

I'd never quite thought of it like that but now that I do I grok it completely. Blogging, live chat, coComments, Trackbacks, social bookmarking, feed aggregation - they're all part of the World Live Web as espoused by Doc Searls. Publication is an ephemeral, solitary, one-way thing. Conversation is an enduring social engagement.

PS. Markets too are conversations. Yup, the good Doc was definitely before his time.
