Damien Mulley might not think of himself as an entrepreneur but everything about the resounding success that was the inaugural Irish Blog Awards suggests that he is. Its the word that best describes the ability to conceive of, organize, fund and run smoothly an event of that kind.
The pre-Awards tech presentations saw podcasters Conn O'Muineachain and Tom Raftery share the same breadth of knowledge and clarity of thought through the spoken word as saw them both win awards for the written word. Bernie Goldbach bid tail winds to Adam Curry, Steve and Jessie had questions for Liam Burke, John Handelaar got vocal and Brian Greene threw yours truly a curve ball about OPML.
Elsewhere on the night Twenty Major's representative came out of hiding, Piaras Kelly did not do the splits, Ed Byrne got passionate about grassroots entrepreneurship (and promised he'd start blogging again), Dermod Moore kept mum about his new business idea, Robin Blandford live blogged, Bernard Tyers kept FONing people, Keith Gaughan told me what was wrong with RSS and both Paul Browne and Fergus Burns took time out of hectic schedules to make an appearance.
Bernie Goldbach summed it up best as an 'energizing experience'. Indeed it was.

"told" is being a little generous: "ranted" might be more appropriate. :-)

Hi James,
It was good to meet you after all the mail conversations!
I hope you managed to get back to the hotel in one piece.
I enjoyed the chat we had over the few pints! I look forward to hearing your podcast output with Tom.
Hope to meet you again, in the not too distant future,
take care,
b.
