I'd love to know how many Dublin and Cork based business people per week are doing the round trip between Ireland's two capitals. And if there would be demand for a luxury mobile office to transport them.
I'm thinking in terms of a LimoLiner lite with perhaps a van or SUV kitted out by Becker Automotive Design. Ok, it wouldn't be as cheap as Ryanair but how much productivity do you have in a cramped plane? Certainly you can't hold any kind of a business meeting, which would be a major selling point of this alternative, along with some other advantages -
"The LimoLiner, in fact — the brainchild of Fergus McCann, a frequent business traveler sick and tired of the hassle of getting to the airport, going through security, checking in, fighting for a seat, waiting to be at the right altitude to use his computer (for 30 minutes), and then taking a 40-minute cab ride into the city."
When I attended the Web2Ireland conference in Dublin a few weeks ago I flew with Aer Arann from Kerry. I loved the convenience but if the conference had been on the southside of the city (instead of relatively near the airport at DCU) there would have been very little time saving, if any.
The plane was full of business people, many of whom were travelling in groups, who mostly read the paper instead of engaging in anything productive. With the M8 due for completion in a few years I wonder if there's an opening for a luxury alternative in mobile office transportation between Cork and Dublin.
I dunno, the train sort of has that part of the market sewn up (when it runs). If you give people extra space on the bus, it does add a lot to the cost, you need to ramp up the prices considerably.

Sorry John, it was shorthand for "between the capitals of the Republic of Ireland and the Republic of Cork" ;-)
