Tomorrow's Web2.0 in Ireland Skypecast is on at 2.30pm. Its scheduled for only 15 minutes just to gauge the interest (or not) in regular virtual geek-get-togethers. Please drop by and say hi if you've time. And don't forget to download the new version of Skype beforehand.... oh, and to upload the tea and biscuits!
I'll take a break from my "Unenmureated rights in the Constitution" study to come along.

shame it's not on around lunchtime - hope it goes well.

Very interested to hear how it goes. I understand your reasons for having it during the day but it means I can't dial in. Any chance of alternating between day and evening ones?

Tomorrow's Skypecast is only a test run lads, and all about getting feedback on times so thanks for that feedback and I'll gladly re-arrange future 'casts to a consensus time. Of course, if there's enough interest we might even run a few different times to suit different groups.
BTW, I'd love to call around to other Skypecasts too if anyone else wants to host them :)

Couldn't this be an always-on channel? I remember someone, not sure who it was and they used to Skype to a relative and just leave it always on. Their sister would be in and out of the room, tidying the house and so forth, as would the person on the other end. It was like adding their computer room to their sisters house.

Hmmmm, interesting idea. Unfortunatley though with SkypeCASTING at least you have to schedule a duration and the limit is currently at two hours.
I suppose we could just use a normal Skype conference instead for always-on? But I've never done one so.....

On a Mac - the Mac client with Casting abilities hasn't been released yet :-(

That was a fun first run!

Thanks Damien, it *was* fun wan't it! Sorry I was so disorganised as a host and thanks to Robin for his help in extending the time.
Right then, now that we know its very usable let's get down to business. Each of us that was there today, for starters, should consider hosting regular weekly Skypecasts to suit a variety of different schedules. For instance, I can't make it after 5pm and many others can't make it before 5pm.
Looking forward to many more....
Tom, sorry you couldn't join us, I think you'd have enjoyed it. Is there anyway you can get access through a PC at some stage in the week? We need you to be a part of this....

Tried to get connected earlier today, but like Tom I feel victim to the lack of a Mac Skypecasting client. I'm sure I'd be able to dig out a PC if there's another one planned soon.
Glad to hear it all went well. Could be interesting idea to develop.
