How to improve your Vodafone 3G datacard connection

A member of Boards.ie reports that an external antenna setup made a big difference for him with the Vodafone 3G datacard -

"The antenna makes a big difference. I had a 'good' signal at best up until now and it was sometimes tempermental. With the antenna, the signal is a constant 'excellent'."

I'd initially feared I'd have to go down the same route but I'm happy to say I've had virtually uninterrupted 3G connectivity since purchase with only the odd lapse into GPRS-only-ness.

Just missed the mega-jumbo Damn, if I'd been passing through Shannon airport just a few days later I would have caught the spectacle of the world's largest passenger jet doing a few touch-n-goes. Now that's the way I want to fly to Boston :-)
