Mike Butcher at TechCrunch UK says he picked out one standout development at a half-day seminar on Virtual Worlds...
"... the eventual merging of Social Software networks like MySpace with Second Life. The most notable example of this - (and possibly the first) - is the ability of users in Playahead to be able to flip their profile into a Second Life avatar with all their preferences and networks intact. That, to me, is potentially very revolutionary, and I don’t use that word lightly. Imagine if people flip their MyPSace profile or even their LinkedIn or Blog into Second Life?"
Couldn't agree more Mike. In fact that's something I've been writing about for a while now -
"We're abstracting everything to the cloud, moving away from the isolated desktop and onto the social webtop. Whether it's MySpace, MyBlog, MyStartPage, MySocialNetwork, MySecondLife, MyPortal, MyAgent, MyProxy or MyIdentity, its all converging towards a shared representation of our digital-selves. You might call it MyAvatar."
What Mike refers to as profile or avatar flipping is essentially a journey through a virtual wormhole ;-)
