... is the effect it will have on the rest of the mobile market. Nokia must be pooping in their PopPort right now wondering if this new slice of design genius has the pedigree to gain a fraction of the market share it's predecessor did in the MP3 arena. Which means it should exert downward price pressure on top end models like the Nokia N95. Yes, as cool and all as the iPhone is it doesn't compare to the N95 in terms of the features that matter to me.
UPDATE: This Time article makes a similar point - "Apple's new iPhone could do to the cell phone market what the iPod did
to the portable music player market: crush it pitilessly beneath the
weight of its own superiority. This is unfortunate for anybody else who
makes cell phones, but it's good news for those of us who use them."
