Web2Ireland wants to make a list of locations for Irish OpenCoffee Clubs based on Saul Klein's excellent suggestion for establishing recognized, open and regular meeting places where entrepreneurs can meet with investors (and anyone else who fancies coming along) in a totally informal setting.
So we need to pick locations around the country. Why not the lobby of the Clarion hotel in Limerick, where we usually hold our geek meetups. It's the most comfortable venue with free wifi that I know of. Any Limerick based entrepeneurs have an alternative in mind? Mary?

This is a great initiative. If we start next Thurday, I'll be in the Clarion hotel armed with my Macbook!

Great, let's make it next Thursday morning then Jan? Hopefully more will join us but even if it's only the two of us it's enough to get this idea off the ground in Limerick :-)

Limerick would be handy enough for me.
However I have never noticed the free wifi.
Any time that I have been there the wifi hotspot was not working and no-one could tell me anything about it.
Coverage was fairly crappy also.
However they are on my list and good, free wifi should b available there soon...

That's strange... either you've been hitting it at a bad time or we've always hit it at a good time because I've never experienced a problem there. We'll see you next Thursday morning them Evert?

I've no problem with a pub Brendan if anyone can name one with free wifi? :)
I don't live in Limerick city myself and the only comfortable venue with free wifi I'm aware of is the Clarion. Actually I think the South Court has it too but only in the lobby.

Best of luck with the get-together. I won't make it this time, but I hope to see some of you at the Blog Awards on Saturday.
Last time I was in the Clarion, the WiFi was still free but no longer open. They gave me a ticket at reception with a login and password, good for an hour.
South Court Hotel has free WiFi also - but not quite the same kind of comfortable informal meeting area.

Was a time and place settled on for this?
Posted by: Paul Sweeney | March 12, 2007 at 08:24 PM
Paul, Mary Gilmartin and myself have been discussing this and we think it would be a good idea to stagger the Limerick meetups with the Cork ones so that people in the region could pop along to either meetup if they'd like.
So we're going to aim for fortnightly OpenCoffees for the moment starting again on Thursday 22nd March, 11-12am. The lobby of the Clarion hotel is the likely venue. Hopefully you'll be able to come along at some stage?

Yep, I can make that. Have put it in the diary. Looking forward to meeting people.
