In an audio interview with VoIPuser Pat Phelan of Roam4free drops some hints about Version 2 of "The SIM that doesn't care where you are" (that's a new tagline) including -
- local call number
- webpage client to access voicemail
- web client to call any Roam4free user
But it sounds like September 18th is going to be the biggie, the date when the company is actually going to launch its own handset! "We're making our money, now we want to make a difference", said Phelan. It sounds like they're doing that alright!
Streaming only? No download? No RSS? What is the point of making us sit in front of a PC to listen to this? That's what iPods are for. What is this? 2003?
;)
Seriously, VOIPuser, this is NOT how it works.

OK - I listened anyway! ;) Well done Pat!

Hi Conn,
Thanks for the feedback and, yes, I accept what you say - you're right.
The truth is we do have an iTunes etc feed for the audio interviews, but it's buggy and we've been so far lacking the time to get it fixed, but it is on the "to do" list and will be sorted.
We do have an RSS feed (the link to that is on our homepage) and the audio is fed in through the feed, meaning an audio interviews can at least be played from within a feedreader.
But yes, I appreciate the importance of iPods and that's why we are looking to get that fixed and operational.

Added : there is an MP3 download available by the way (where it says "Download the MP3 here"), it isn't streaming only.

Hi Dean,
It wasn't obvious from the php url that I could do a "save as", but I tried it, and it worked. The fact that the url is "stream.php" kind of put me off! :)
Suggest you try putting your rss feed through Feedburner (.com) for relatively painless podcasting with iTunes compliance.
Great content, by the way! I just think you should make the most of it.
Best Wishes,
Conn

Hi Conn,
Thanks.

Thanks for the positive feedback. We try to - truth is we're non-profit and all of VoIP User has been written and hand coded by a core group of folks in our spare time. So we're always up against the usual family/friends pressures etc ;)
Looking at the interviews main page again I've also decided that we really should have the RSS button on there as well as on the homepage, so it's more obvious that we have one. I'll do that later...
Best,
Dean

Hmmm.. my above post got completely screwed I think by the use of ">" signs - sorry. In short:-
1. May use Feedburner, doing it this way at the moment so I learn a little about the iTunes XML format. I tend to build things myself for educational reasons.
2. Will rename "stream.php" to something else - good point that one, I hadn't thought of it ;)
