Brendan Lally writes a blog entitled Lally Logic. I don't know if that label indicates a fondness for alliteration but after meeting him at Limerick OpenCoffee yesterday I can only conclude it's a perfect fit.
First we joined Bernie Goldbach, Gabriela Avram and John Jennings in the Brainbox Boardroom for an Online Meeting with Joe Garde and Ken McGuire in remote locations. Brendan rolled up the sleeves and got stuck right in adding some terrific insight to the discussion. Later we joined Evert Bopp, Paul Sweeney and John Kennedy on the outside deck at AbsoluteHotel.com (very pleasant for the November 1st) for a hugely entertaining and educational chinwag on business models, broadband, etc. This went on for hours. Again Brendan brought his vast experience to bear with several sharp observations.
The good news for all of us traveling on PaddysValley is that Brendan is hoping to make the hop over from his Colorado base to join us in Palo Alto. It's perfectly logical.
Looks more and more like OpenCoffee is full day's event moreso than a coffee or chat over food for an hour or two. Must see about making a day of it soon enough!

You're right Ken, it really is very difficult to pull away after the 'alloted' two hours. You get so deeply involved in the conversations that the afternoon just passes by. I guess that's another reason why I personally feel that monthly meetings are a better fit than fortnightly. When there's a 60 mile round trip involved I'd rather attend a 5 hour session monthly than a 2 hour session more frequently. And with the month between meetings there's never a shortage of stuff to talk about.
And please do let us know when you're coming. A fresh perspective is always refreshing, as Brendan proved yesterday.

I think we need to pull back to once a month for the near term at least, mainly because of the travel time and the conflict arising in our academic calendar.

You know, once a month is actually fine.

We need to produce an audio sting for each of the OpenCoffee sessions and embed them into Irish-produced podcasts. We're producing Inside View 67 that's an audio of Brendan Lally's visit to Limerick OpenCoffee. It will be uploaded to http://podcasting.ie/podcasts/inside_view_67.mp3
